Write-a-thon

As I’ve done for several years now, I’m participating in the Clarion West Write-a-thon. This year’s goal is to rewrite 35K of my novel, (Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!) which works out to be about 6K a week, and, for my approximating, about 1000K a day. Doable.

Well, doable with an outline. But I should have that nailed down next week tomorrow! Just in time!

The year, I’m adding a little something to sweeten the thought of sponsoring me. The first three people who sponsor me at $30 (only $5 a week!) or more will receive their very own hand-applique postcard landscape.

Here’s another sample:

moon lake

This is a segment of a larger landscape, but it’s approximately what I expect of a finished postcard. I do like embellishment, so you might find some grasses (embroidery floss or peacock hurl) or rayon threads for glitter, like I have here on the water.

If you do decide to sponsor me, please let me know. I don’t always discover who my sponsors are until midway through the write-a-thon and sometimes even later, and I’d like to get a jump on these, since I’ll potentially be taking them on a long car trip. (South Dakota, to see the Slug, Yellowstone, and Bryce Canyon. They will be well traveled if we do it!) You will get to dictate my color choices either by color range–blues, browns, greens–or via places–ocean, lake, forest, desert, etc. You will also be able to choose between vertical or horizontal orientation.

To sponsor me, go to the Clarion West website
. If you are a sponsor, I thank you! Clarion West meant a great deal to me the year I attended, and I still hold it (and all the people who make it happen annually) close to my heart.

And if you can’t sponsor, you’re always welcome to hang out and nag. I’ll whine post daily, so there will be no excuse not to make or exceed my goal.

Very cool Marsha, and wonderful artwork. Great idea. Cheers, Lyn Aspey (fellow write-a-thon-er).

Thanks, Lyn! The notion of offering something very different from writing to get sponsors seems to have worked fairly well. :)
